MAKURDI: Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has connected the support the state government was getting cross political divides to the positive contributions his administration was making to the overall development of the state.
The state governor, disclosed this while addressing decampees from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Labour Party (LP) in the state, as well as supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at the Expanded Caucus meeting of the APC in Makurdi.
While he stated that the presence of key political figures from the PDP, ADC and LP, who were at the meeting and decamped to APC, as a testament to what his administration was doing, Alia, addressed significant developments on the political landscape, adding that it was what may have informed the drift towards APC.
Governor Alia, who emphasised the importance of collective efforts in enhancing democracy and securing a prosperous future for Benue, noted that APC remains a beacon of hope and a source of progress for the people of Benue State.”
He assured members of the party and supporters alike of the administration’s commitment to transparent governance, observing that this was evident in the timely payment of salaries by his government, among other policies of government.
Alia, stated that “This overwhelming support from these key stakeholders in the different opposition political parties in the state and existing members of the APC indicates the positive contributions we are making.
“As we fight for the masses, we remain resolute in our pursuit of peace and stability in Benue,” he said.
The governor who urged those present at the event to maintain focus and positivity, expressed gratitude to party members for their unwavering support and commitment to the development of the state.
While highlighting the achievements of his government, the governor observed that there was a noticeable decline in insecurity in local government areas due to collaborative efforts to restore peace.
Furthermore, he reiterated the administration’s commitment to agricultural initiatives, stating that funds have been released to support farmers and foster sustainable development.
In the area of education, the governor announced that extensive renovations were ongoing in primary schools, underscoring the importance of quality education for future generations.
Governor Alia, who commended the APC State Chairman, Chief Benjamin Omale, for his dedication, describing it as a testament to true leadership, also appreciated the Central Working Committee, led by Omale, for their commitment to strengthening the APC in Benue.
Omale, who appreciated the decampees, said he was delighted with their decision, pointing out that they have now seen the light. End.
